Dublin named European capital of Poker

The Irish capital has been granted the designation as the number one destination for Poker in Europe after winning the Bluff European Poker Capital award for 2008 determined by Bluff magazine Europe, the most popular Poker publication in the European continent.

Dublin defeated London in the battle for the first place and the winning podium was completed with London in the second place and Vienna, Amsterdam and Barcelona in the third, fourth and fifth places respectively. Last year, Dublin had to settle for the second place, but this year it managed to come in first place after giving a great impression to the jury of Bluff Europe panel.

A great amount of clubs with card games are distributed all over the city and it has been noticed that the game of Poker is gaining popularity among the locals and the tourists who visit the region, which has been highlighted by the appearance of Poker societies and leagues. Each year, new tournaments with budgets for every pocket are open for the fans of the game. Dublin is also the home of the Irish Open, the oldest and most prestigious Poker tourney of Europe.
